Why would I need a Drainage Specialist?

Drainage Specialists will provide, via this website, an estimate for the cost to visit a property, inspect the drains and where relevant produce a report. These estimates are from local Specialists who cover the area. In each case the price assumes that there is adequate access to the drains (usually via man hole covers). In many cases jetting to clean out the drain will be required before a cctv survey can be undertaken. Should excavation be required to gain access, each specialist will usually have an additional price for this (at an hourly rate). It is very important to identify and agree the various charges before work commences.

Sometimes the resulting report will identify the need for maintenance or repair work. In each case an indication of possible cost will usually be noted in the report.

For surveys of cess pools and septic tanks, a means of inspection is often not straight forward and again it is important to discuss the likely costs in detail before agreement is made to proceed.

Choosing a Drainage Contractor

When placing business with a drainage contractor, you will need to be aware that the quality of service can vary. Unfortunately here in the UK there are no widely recognised accreditation programs setting standards in the industry. There are however lots of contactors who do provide a good level of service and they recognise the need to introduce standards following through with training courses and accreditation programs. One such organisation is the National Association of Drainage Contractors (NADC) www.nadc.org.uk. The NADC are now operating an accreditation service and some contractors have completed their training courses and obtained accreditation. This is to be welcomed and we hope that this process will continue and that it will ultimately benefit both the drainage contractors and their customers.
